2023 – 2024

Sub Team Members

Our Electrical Sub-Team supports both our IC car and a new EV FSAE project. Through these efforts, team members gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology that translates directly to the automotive industry. By powering the Michigan Tech Racing team, the Electrical Sub-Team plays a crucial role in our success and development.

FSAE EV

Our EV car project began in 2020 with the goal of designing a completely new style of vehicle. As the automotive market shifts towards electric vehicles, Michigan Tech Racing aims to stay ahead of the trend and gain valuable experience in EV performance. We are working towards competing with our first EV car by 2027, with support from leading industry companies.

Data Acquisition

With numerous sensors on our car, we collect valuable data that allows us to make informed decisions when fine-tuning the car’s settings. This data benefits every sub-team, enhancing overall performance.

Driver Interface

The display provides the driver with immediate feedback on all key car parameters. The dashboard is designed to show essential information, including vehicle speed, engine temperature, RPM, map settings, oil pressure, and many other critical metrics.

Power system (IC)

Wiring harnesses are essential not only for supplying power but also for enabling data collection while driving. Our team members have numerous opportunities to design and create these harnesses, which are integrated throughout the car.
